ECTOIN - THE NEW SKINCARE SUPERHERO?

Image
Hi, babes! Emma here, and it's my pleasure to introduce you to the new skincare superhero buzzing around - ectoin!  If you haven't come across ectoin yet, get ready because it's about to take the skincare world by storm. Every now and then, a skincare ingredient that you may not have previously heard of suddenly becomes the "It" ingredient, deemed essential for any skincare routine as everyone seems to realise its incredible benefits all at once. In recent years, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide went through this exact journey, starting off as unfamiliar terms, turning into buzzworthy ingredients, and ultimately becoming must-haves in our skincare arsenal. Now, the latest ingredient to go from obscurity to the spotlight is none other than ectoin. I couldn't help but notice the increasing buzz around ectoin as the ultimate must-have ingredient in skincare products. While it has been known to the chemistry community for quite some time, it's only recently t...

DRY ELBOW REMEDIES

Image
Hi, babes! Emma here, and today we'll be discussing dry elbow remedies. Winter is here, babes, and with it comes drier skin due to the cold and dry air. Well, seeing as we can't fix the weather, we can at least try to solve this dry skin issue then, right?  Some skincare concerns are incredibly simple to solve. You have a sunburn? Reach for some anti-inflammatory aloe to help soothe the redness and irritation. Your t-zone is extra oily? Incorporate ingredients like salicylic acid and witch hazel into your routine to help balance your oil and make way for a more mattified complexion. One skincare concern that’s not as obvious as far as treatments go? Dry elbows. While you might think that applying any hydrating cream would do the trick, if you’ve ever actually had dry elbows, then you know that’s not the case. And that’s exactly what I had in mind while writing this.  In this light, here are some tips to solve that stubborn dryness:  APPLY PRODUCTS WHILE YOUR ELOWS A...

SKIN FLOODING - WHAT IS THIS NEW BUZZ-WORTHY TREND?

Image
Hi, babes! Emma here, and let me introduce you to the new skin care trend you might have heard of by now as it's been all over TikTok, skin flooding. Let's dive right in, shall we?  It's that time of year when our parched winter skin needs an extra hydration boost. You probably reach for rich, thick creams and plumping, moisturising serums out of instinct. The good news is that you might have the right things in your hands, but stop and consider whether you're utilising them correctly. Fortunately, a popular skincare practice that hydrates dry skin is on TikTok and provides the answer. Introducing skin flooding. The term may sound like a passing phase, but the idea is straightforward. To deliver deeper, longer-lasting moisture, skin flooding requires layering moisturising products in a precise order. It consists of four easy steps: a gentle cleanse, a mist application, the use of one or more serums, and finishing off with moisturising. The main component of this routine...

HUMECTANTS: INGREDIENT DEEP DIVE

Hi, babes! Emma here, and let's get acquainted with humectants today, shall we?  I think you’ll agree with me when I say that healthy, radiant skin is one thing that never goes out of style, even as trends come and go. This can be accomplished by a variety of factors and components, including humectants. A humectant is a typical moisturising ingredient found in cosmetics for your skin and hair. You probably know more about humectants than you think; they're known for their capacity to hold onto moisture while maintaining the general characteristics of the product in question. So, what are they exactly? A humectant is an essential factor in maintaining the skin's moisture balance. It is a component that aids in attracting moisture to the skin's surface and holds onto water to prevent the skin from rapidly drying out. It is frequently found in body and face care products such serums, lotions, and creams. Hyaluronic acid and other humectants with collagen-booster charac...

WINTER SKIN - KEEP HYDRATED WITH THESE MOISTURISER RECS THIS WINTER

Hi, babes! Emma here, and today we'll be talking about moisturiser recommendations to keep your skin flake-free this Winter.  In the Winter, my normally hydrated, youthful-looking skin takes on a life of its own and becomes much drier and duller. Really, it's a nuisance. But I made the decision to do something rather than just mope around feeling sorry for myself. This meant that at 3 in the morning I frantically searched Google for "best winter moisturisers for dry skin," trying just about every rich moisturiser that came up. Five winter-appropriate moisturisers that cure dry skin with a surge of hydration are the outcome of my search (as well as anti-aging and other protective properties). I have the dewy skin to demonstrate that they are superior to all other products on the market in terms of brightness, nourishment, soothing, plumping, and hydration. Find my favourites, along with justifications for why they work, below. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel With Neut...
