THE HOTTEST SERUMS FOR EVERY SKIN TYPE

Hi, babes!

Emma here, and today's topic we're tackling is serums. Let's dive right in, shall we?

First of all, what are serums?

Serums are silky, light oils that give a concentrated dose of active substances while also locking in moisture. The oil-base isn't overpowering, but it allows the components to permeate the skin's surface, assuring efficacy while also protecting your skin from the effects of daily life.

And what are they for?

Everyone's skin is unique, which is why it's so much fun to use a product that's personalised to your specific needs. Acne a problem for you? For that, there is a serum. Do you have dehydrated skin that needs to be hydrated? There's even a serum for that. Using a strong serum before your moisturiser will help you treat your skin the way it was meant to be treated, from fine wrinkles to the most sensitive skin types. Whether you're a seasoned serum user or a novice, here are some serums you could benefit from that won't send you into financial ruin, and some worth spending on.

DRY SKIN

CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum

When your goal isn't to glow like a disco light all day, what do you reach for during the winter months? If the answer to this question is nothing, really, give this lovely serum a go. Because of its gel composition, this hydrating hyaluronic acid serum gives hydration to the skin without making it look excessively dewy.

It's key ingredients are hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and niacinamide. Doesn't that sound amazing? You can find it at Cult Beauty for £17.00!

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum

Have you ever noticed a French woman on the street and wondered how she managed to have such flawless skin? This French pharmacy classic is most likely the answer. In one formula, the hyaluronic acid serum moisturises, plumps, and minimises hyperpigmentation.

I usually buy this one at Boots, priced at £38.00, when I'm feeling fancy.

MATURE SKIN

L'Oreal Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum

This serum not only hydrates parched skin, but it also reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Your skin will feel retexturized and firmer right away, and it will have a wonderful youthful glow.

The only con about this one is that it takes time to sink in. so be sure to wait a bit to follow up with your moisturiser. It costs £24.99 at Boots, my mum swears by it.

QMS Night Collagen

This overnight collagen serum is the one to choose if you're looking for a deeply nourishing and fine line-reducing solution. QMS started making skincare for patients with severe scarring, thus all of their products are made to be as effective as possible for immediate and long-term outcomes.

The downside of this is that it's quite pricey, costing £78.00 at LookFantastic. If you want to feel boujee as well as look it, definitely go for it.

Clarins Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate

Water-soluble extracts are among the most effective plant-based extracts. Others can only be successful in oil-based environments. This convenient vial's twin chambers accommodate both types - 20 botanical actives in all, including turmeric, oats, and kiwi. Choose a power shot if your skin is really dry. Reduce the dosage on oilier days by adjusting the adjustable nozzle.

You can find this vegan and cruelty-free 50 ml serum in Boots for £80.00.

Dr Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Brighten & Firm Vitamin C Serum

Dull skin? no longer a problem! Slathe your face in this luminous gel-serum mix infused with strong vitamin C to brighten up dull skin. It immediately penetrates into the skin, leaving it smoother and more radiant.

SpaceNK sells this effective, potent potion for £79.00. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself.

ACNE PRONE SKIN

The Inkey List Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum

Salicylic acid is used in this serum to deep clean pores and reveal clear, blemish-free skin. This lotion lowers oiliness while also eliminating visible blackheads, so you can finally ditch the pore strips (not that I condone the use of pore strips).

It's affordable too, reasonably priced at £10.99, but it can pill when used with other products so be mindful of that.

Clinique Acne Solutions Acne + Line Correcting Serum

Is your skin undermining your selfies by forming fine wrinkles and zits at the same time? This oil-free product battles wrinkles on two fronts: it softens them while also fighting spots.

It's definitely worth £38.49 at FeelUnique, and Clinique has never disappointed me yet. This one is perfect for adults suffering from acne.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Allow me to introduce you to your skin's rescuer if "moisture" conjures up images of "clogged pores." Thanks to Neutrogena's oil-free, sensitive skin-safe recipe, this serum will hydrate your skin without giving it a reason to break out.

Those of you who have dry acne-prone skin could greatly benefit from this lovely serum. You can find it on FeelUnique's website for £14.99.

Shani Darden Lactic Acid AHA Exfoliating Serum

This serum can gently exfoliate the face, minimising the appearance of pores and revealing soft, glowing skin for skin that's breaking out, feeling dull, or irritated. A blend of aloe and green tea soothes sensitive skin and keeps it healthy and robust.

You might have a hard time finding this one in stock at UK cosmetics shops, but you can buy it on Niche Beauty for £80.00.

DULL SKIN

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops

This serum from Glow Recipe will hydrate thirsty skin. Watermelon extract, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide nourish your skin while giving it a healthy, glazed donut-like sheen.

Does that sound like your jam? It's in stock at Cult Beauty currently for £31.00.

Buttah Skin Vitamin C Serum

Sometimes all we need is a simple, effective serum with no frills. Buttah Skin's Vitamin C serum lives up to its claims of brightening and improving the appearance of your skin.

It's soothing, but can feel sticky. This precious liquid is formulated with vit c and ferulic acid, and it's a more affordable version of the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, to which we'll get to in a moment. You can get it from Cult Beauty for £33.00.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Fresh Day Serum

This vitamin C serum, which was recently revamped, has a cult following for a reason. It instantly gives the skin a healthy shine and decreases hyperpigmentation produced by sun damage or scarring over time.

Some might dislike the scent of this serum, but if you don't have any issues with fragrance give it a go. It's available at Boots and it costs £67.00.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic

This serum is advocated by pretty much every celebrity whose complexion you appreciate, as well as their dermatologists. Even severe hyperpigmentation can be reduced with vitamin C, ferulic acid, and vitamin E over time. Your skin will be protected from environmental aggressors and will glow in the short term.

This one does break the bank, costing a whopping £145.00 on LookFantastic's website. If you have the money to spend, why not go for it?

So there you go, babes! I've given you a lot of options to choose from, so it's all in your hands now. Whether it be affordable you're chasing, or going all out in pursuit of the best skin you could possibly imagine, I've got you covered.

Until next time.

Love,

Emma
