FOREO LUNA 4 BALANCED SKIN REVIEW
Hi, babes! Emma here, and get ready for your mind to be blown because today I’m going to introduce you to… drumroll, please… the Foreo LUNA 4 Balanced Skin cleansing device. Buckle up, my sweets, and prepare to be amazed.
First off, I’m really happy that they’ve called it for balanced skin instead of normal. What is normal in skincare, anyway? It doesn’t exist. And, oh my, look at that colour? The physical appearance is quite similar to the LUNA 3, but the LUNA 4 provides some functionalities that the previous version doesn’t. As a proud owner of both versions, I will be introducing you to the differences between these two cleansing devices.
AN ADVANCED CLEANSING EXPERIENCE
Hands up, how many of you still feel like your skin isn’t sufficiently clean after your second, or even first cleanse? I thought so - luckily the LUNA 4 can help you with that, seeing as the bristles cleanse and exfoliate in one step, leaving your skin smooth and feeling the cleanest it’s ever been.
But how does it differ from rotating facial cleansing devices? And does it cause damage?
Worry not, because as opposed to other devices, the LUNA 4 is made of medical grade silicone as opposed to plastic and nylon which is a much more hygenic option as it does not harbour or trap bacteria the way those do. Also, you don’t have to worry about replacement heads or parts because, again, it’s a durable, waterproof device that’s meant to last you up to ten years!
As for the damage, you’re in no danger there as the bristles are very soft and instead of being based solely on vibration, the LUNA 4 features patented T-Sonic pulsations which allow for the cleanser of your choice to penetrate deeper into the skin and that makes for a more effective cleanse. Plus, it features a massager side which we’ll get into more below.
For the uninitiated into cleansing devices, it’s safe to use with any cleanser that doesn’t have microbeads, any gritty elements like scrubs, and clay-based cleansers. The best option to choose from would be a cream, gel or foam cleanser.
So, what’s the difference between the LUNA 3 and LUNA 4?
The key difference between these two is that the past version, the LUNA 3, had an on/off button and was solely app connected, while the LUNA 4 just needs to be unlocked through the app and you can choose which mode you want to use in your routine by pressing the button shown on the pic below. The app is still a useful guide for the massaging treatments you might enjoy.
Another difference is that the LUNA 4 has adjustable massage levels, while the LUNA 3 only had one mode you could choose from. Due to the button activation, the LUNA 4 also has a travel lock in place, meaning your device won’t get accidentally activated in your luggage at the airport and you won’t have to explain to the security people what’s going on.
The cleansing modes you can choose from on your LUNA 4 are as follows: Gentle, for those no-makeup days when you just need a bit of polishing off; Regular, for everyday use if your skin can handle it; and Deep Cleanse when your skin needs some extra TLC. I’ve personally used mine on Gentle and Regular so far, while I’ve always used my LUNA 3 on the same setting, which was around 4 or 5 out of the 16 intensities on offer.
The Massager Side
We’ve covered the cleansing side so far, but what about the massager side?
Well, if you enjoy facial massages, the LUNA 4 will provide generously there. You can pair it with an oil or serum. While testing it out, I used the Foreo Serum Serum Serum with mine. A thin layer is recommended, but I usually double up a bit because my skin drinks the serum rather quickly. After applying, you press the button on your LUNA 4 to turn it on, and you can either select the Firming Massage mode from the app or have a customised one from the Foreo app.
Being gentle is key to having a nice and relaxing time while massaging with the LUNA 4. The serum should provide a nice slip that won’t drag or pull on your skin, which is the opposite of relaxing, and enjoy a full face massage. It’s safe to use on your face, neck and chest. Remember to use upwards motions to promote blood flow and you’re golden!
The LUNA 4 will shut off automatically after a minute session, but you can definitely have another go if you have the time. After you’ve finished, wash your device with a gentle soap and water. Follow up with the rest of your skincare routine, because you don’t have to wash off the serum. Lock in the lovely moisture with your moisturiser for that extra glow.
The guided modes you can choose from for your LUNA 4 are the Deep Tissue massage, which uses deep pressure at slow intervals to relieve tension (which is perfect if you have the tendency to clench your jaw); Trigger Point massage, which is advised to use on the neck and it provides alternating pressure levels to relieve muscle tissue tension; Shiatsu Massage, a personal favourite of mine, meant to improve fatigue, and promote a zen state of mind and body with its pulsing pressure. The final massage mode is Reflexology mode that is meant for around the eyes and uses gentle to firm pressure.
The Final Word
So there you have it, babes - my Foreo LUNA 4 Balanced Skin review! I hope you enjoyed it and if you’re considering getting one of these babies, definitely do because it has changed my routine for the better. Less steps, I’ve finally found an exfoliation option that suits my skin and a helping hand when it comes to my massaging.
Stay safe, and until next time...
Love,
Emma

Lovely. I have Luna 3 myself and I am happy to see the new version. It looks interesting. What is the major difference according to you and the one you love the most?
ReplyDeleteHi! It's always great to connect with other Luna users! I'd say that the main difference is the massage options, because they're vastly different from the previous version, and the Luna 4 is definitely more gentle on the skin than the Luna 3 because the bristles are longer. Will you be getting the Luna 4 too to upgrade?
DeleteIt will definitely be on my wish list. When I find something I love and something that works for me, I do not change the winning team :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the detailed review! I'll definitely consider getting one. I already have a luna mini 3, but I think I'll upgrade to the luna 4 for the massage options alone.
ReplyDeleteOh you're very welcome. I'm glad you liked it. The massage modes are really next level!
DeleteWow, it looks gorgeous! Are there options for other skin types? My skin is sensitive, I definitely need something more gentle.
ReplyDeleteHi! Yes, there's two other models, one for sensitive skin (the lilac one) and one for combination skin (pale green). I'd love to hear your thoughts on the sensitive option if you get it soon!
DeleteI'll definitely do that! Thanks for the quick rely :)
DeleteReally cool of you to post a review, I'm very jelly that you've already had the chance to try it out! I can't wait to get mine
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you! Hope you get your soon xx
DeleteWow, the pics are really beautiful. I've seen other versions in the range on Foreo's social media pages. I'm most excited about the Luna body and the 4!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad they've turned out alright! I'm excited for the body one as well, I might write a post about it as well!
DeletePlease do! I'd love to hear your thoughts, I find your posts really easy to read and super insightful. I look forward to it.
DeleteThanks, babe! I appreciate it :)
