FIVE TOOLS FOR A FLAWLESS FACE EVERY DAY

 Hi, babes!

Emma here with the latest trend in skincare - facial tools! What with all the recent hype around depuffing, it can often be confusing and difficult to discern what you need and what you don't need to incorporate in your routine. Well, I've got you covered, babes.

Without further ado, lets get into it.

1. GUA SHA

While gua sha has been a skincare staple for centuries in China, it has proven to be a popular practice amongst skincare junkies these past few years. So what does it entail, exactly? Originally a body treatment, gua sha has since been adapted to be used in facial therapies, with the scraping motion evolving to a gentler gliding technique. And the benefits? Some of the benefits are that the practice stimulates collagen production, stimulates circulation and decreases puffiness. Don't believe me? Try it out for yourself, using this helpful guide:

2. JADE ROLLERS

Like gua sha, jade rollers date back to seventh-century China, and crystals have been used in skin care for thousands of years. The real benefit of jade rollers or facial massage is improving circulation and lymphatic drainage, so you look more glowing and less puffy. The key to achieving glowy skin, however, lies in correct usage - the goal is to move the built-up fluid that is making your face puffy towards the lymph nodes. Here's a short guide on how to use it correctly in your routine: Start at the center of your chin, rolling out and up toward your ear. Then move the roller up to the side of your mouth and repeat. Repeat again, starting this time at the side of the nose. Roll it under your eye, moving it horizontally toward your temple, and repeat it on your eyelid. On your forehead, roll it up from your brow to your hairline. Then roll it horizontally out toward your temple. Finally, repeat on the other side of your face.

3. REUSABLE EYE PATCHES

There's no better way to ensure brighter under eyes than with eye patches. Recently, in an effort to reduce the amount of waste I as a consumer produce (because I'm constantly testing out new products so I, and many beauty gurus alike, are bound to make an impact on the environment) I have switched to reusable options where ever applicable, so eye patches are no exception! These babies can be cooled off in a skincare fridge, they can be applied over a cream to lock in that much needed hydration, and you can definitely use a jade roller over them - the possibilities really are endless with these!

4. MICRONEEDLE DERMAROLLERS

Dermarolling or microneedling is a process that was originally carried out by a dermatologist. Nowadays, it is also commonly done at home with little training. It has gained popularity in recent years as an accessible, effective, and relatively non-invasive skin treatment. When the dermaroller is rolled over the skin, the small, fine needles on the roller puncture the skin. The holes that the needles create in the skin are tiny and considered to be superficial. For this reason, the treatment is not seen as invasive. Sounds a bit scary? Don't worry, it's totally safe and some of the benefits promoted by the wound healing include the skin releases substances that stimulate growth, new blood vessels form in the skin and the skin starts to make more collagen.

5. ICE GLOBES

Cryotherapy has slowly crept into skincare, and it's here to stay! Ice globes, in turn,  are an effective facial treatment as their cold temperatures cause a vasoconstriction response in the skin, causing the blood vessels to shut off as your muscles contract around them. The best part about them is that you can use them as much as you want without worrying you could cause damage to your skin. Put them in the fridge, cool them off and go to town, babes. As for the application process, you can use your ice globes over your other favorite skincare products (i.e., serums and moisturisers) to help the tools glide easier. Just know that because of their cold temperature the globes won't be able to help with product absorption as some brands claim.

So there you have it, babes - five skincare tools to incorporate into your routine. Keep in mind that you might not need all of them at once, but don't let that spoil your fun!

Until next time, babes!

Love,

Emma
